Fees for Carolyn Simmons Legal

Professional Fees

The costs incurred in a legal matter fall into two categories - costs and disbursements.

Costs

Costs are the amounts you pay for the work your lawyer does, for example drafting documents, advising you, or appearing in Court. Costs are charged according to an hourly rate, a statutory scale or a fixed fee.

The total costs and disbursements you could incur depend on a number of factors, including the approach of the other party and their lawyer, whether or not your matter involves Court proceedings, and the instructions you decide to provide to us.

You will be provided with specific information about the actions you can take that will help you contain your total legal expenses.

Disbursements

Disbursements are amounts paid to other organisations or individuals - for example Court filing fees, your barrister's fees and government fees for title searches. You will be advised of the amount for any disbursement before you incur any disbursement charges.

A Smarter, Flexible Way to Fund Your Family Law or Estate Administration Matter

We understand that when you’re navigating a separation or relationship property matter, the financial strain can sometimes stand in the way of getting the legal support you need.

Managing a deceased estate and the probate process often means covering more than just legal fees. Executors can face costs like insurance, property maintenance, and other expenses — often out of their own pocket, with reimbursement to come later. They may even want to

improve assets prior to sale.

Through our partnership with JustFund, eligible clients can access flexible funding to cover these expenses as well as legal fees, with no repayments until your property settlement or probate is finalised. This helps ease financial pressure while ensuring the estate is preserved. Contact us for more information, or visit JustFund.com.au
